Steve Young finished a 13-year career with the 49ers as the NFL’s highest-ranked career passer with a rating of 96.8. He was the league’s MVP in 1992 and 1994 and Super Bowl XXIX MVP after he tossed a Super Bowl record six touchdown passes in the Niners’ 49 to 26 win over San Diego. He led the league in passing six times and in touchdown passes four seasons. In the 1994 49er championship season, he completed an amazing 70.3 percent of his passes for 35 touchdowns. A brilliant runner as well, he averaged 5.9 yards per carry for his career and scored 43 touchdowns.

Inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
