Juli Simpson Inkster won 39 professional golf tournaments, including seven women’s majors. Twice she took the U.S. Open, in 1999 and again in 2002, when, at age 42, she became the second oldest woman ever to win the event. Inkster started her golf career in Santa Cruz, where she was born and raised. Still competitive at age 50, Inkster finished second in an LPGA Tournament in Malaysia in October 2010. A mother of two, Inkster graduated from San Jose State University, where she was an All-American in 1979, 1980 and 1982. She won three straight U.S. Amateurs from 1980-1982. Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2000, Inkster represented the United States on eight Solheim Cup teams, winning 18 points, a record total for an American player.

Inducted into The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
