Billy Wilson is one of the San Francisco 49ers’ all-time greats. At Campbell High School, he was a 4-letter man, then starred at San Jose State. He played 10 years with the 49ers (1951-1960) as a pass-catching end, compiling 5902 yards and 49 touchdowns in the short 12-game seasons of the time. He led the National Football League 3 times in pass receptions (’54,’56, ’57), and was in the Pro Bowl 6 times, including 1957 as MVP. He remained for many years with his first pro team, the 49ers, as an assistant coach and scout.
Inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
