Yelberton Abraham Tittle began his ten-year career with the San Francisco 49ers in 1951. He was selected to play in the Pro Bowl six times, the first being in 1954. He led the NFL in passing in 1957, with a 63 percent completion average, and paced the 49ers to a Western Division title tie. He was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1961 and 1963, when he led the New York Giants to three Conference Championships.
Inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
