Born in San Jose, Peggy Fleming won the first of five U.S. Figure Skating titles in 1964, at age 15. In 1968, at age18, she won the U.S. title at the Berkeley Ice Rink. Winner of three Figure Skating World Championships— in 1966, ’67, and ’68—she was the only U.S. gold medal winner in the 1968 Winter Olympics at Grenoble.
Inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
