Kristi Yamaguchi is one of the most electrifying figure skaters in the modern era. As a junior she competed in both pairs and singles, winning both events (the doubles with Rudi Galindo) at the World Junior Championships in 1988. Concentrating on the singles after that, she won World Championships in 1991 and ’92 and Olympic Gold at Albertville, France in ’92. That same year, she won the first of four World Professional championships. She was a Goodwill Ambassador to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
