Toyota / Steve Young Scholar–Athlete Award
Steve Young is an inducted member in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame and the National Football League (NFL) Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is the recipient of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl XXIX and is currently an NFL analyst on ESPN. Beginning in 2012, a $2,500 scholarship established in his honor is awarded annually to one male and one female college-bound high school senior whose academic and athletic careers have been exemplary and whose personal standards and accomplishments are a positive model for others. The scholarship presentations take place at the Annual Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame Enshrinement Banquet.

From Liberty High School in Brentwood, Ca – the female recipient for 2017 is DELANIE SHEEHAN. Delanie has over a 4.0 grade average and was three (3) time BVAL MVP in soccer. Delanie will be attending UCLA in the fall with a soccer scholarship.
From Los Altos High School in Los Altos – the male recipient for 2017 is MAX HIGAREDA. Max has close to a 3.7 grade average and was Captain of both the baseball and football teams throughout his high school career. Max was also named Defensive Player of the Year in the El Camino league his senior year.
